Basics for God answering your prayers

Many prayers are dispatched to the Creator of the universe, but how do you know if your prayers are being heard or going into a cosmic reject file?

Firstly, according to the Bible, God hears the prayers of a repentive heart always. One is indeed fortunate that God Almighty will be moved when there is a heartfelt call for help in conjunction to a pure motive while leaning towards a contrite spirit.

In Hebrews it stipulates that “the Word of God is powerful and quick, sharper than a two-edged sword dividing asunder both soul and spirit; through the joints and marrow, and is the very discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. It also reveals in Hebrews that God is the Revealer to those that diligently search.

Asking amiss will send your prayer to the reject pile rather quickly. However a poor introduction will also have suspect consequences.

Many people robotically use the Lord’s Prayer as a format for prayer. “Our Father” prayers are reserved for those that are actually children of God. The "Lord's Prayer is suppose to be a model for prayer. You also can’t claim God as your Father if you have never been adopted into God’s family.

Jesus declared “nobody comes to the Father except through Me” leaves no variation to what deserves an audience and being heard by God. As the Christian Intercessor and High Priest, there are no other alternatives to approach the throne room of God.

Praying according to God’s will and not your will is another requirement that makes an effective prayer. One becomes familiar with God’s will by studying God’s Word. The probability of praying according to God’s will is greatly improved by being cognizant of what God promises, blessings and the fact that God is bound by His Word and cannot violate that standard.

Having faith is the electro-charger that can create miracles as long as you put your faith in God and not oneself. Purity of faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains according to what Jesus ordained. Some believers erroneously believe they need million dollar faith for a million dollar miracle. Jesus clearly said to “Have faith in God”, thus removing the emphasis on the individual’s faith and placing that faith in God’s ability.http://bible.cc/mark/11-22.htm

Another super-charger to prayer is the praying in the Spirit which involves tongues. Sometimes we don’t know what to pray for, so the Spirit intercedes on our behalf with “groanings that cannot be heard”. This supernatural display of “praying in the Spirit” is controversial because some denominations of Christianity teach this gift is no longer in operation. It’s not mandatory to have prayer answered by speaking in tongues, nor does it put your salvation in jeopardy, but it does enhance your prayer power exponentially.http://www.truthseek.net/praying01.html

Lastly is the endorsement to any prayer which should be in Jesus’ Name. This is like signing the check you are trying to cash at the bank. Without the proper endorsement, it doesn’t matter how much money you have in the bank…the bank won’t cash it. The same is true with prayers as intercessory where one is requesting God to do something. No “in Jesus’ Name” at the end of the prayer means no action by God.http://www.johnhamelministries.org/vital_basics_of_answered_prayer.htm

God doesn’t subscribe to illegal activity, and without these guidelines being followed, God can’t legally transact business here on Earth. God is an orderly God and He will not violate His Word no matter how sincere the individual is or critical the need.

You can be sincere….but sincerely wrong.
