Bascom branch library grand opening (Photos)

Hundreds of library patrons participated in the Bascom Library and Community Center grand opening this afternoon as the doors opened for the first time at the multi-level facility in San Jose, Calif.

A yellow ribbon cutting ceremony kicked off the celebration at the library’s front entrance and the festivities continued with performances by the Del Mar High School Band and Choir and the Sherman Oaks Community Charter School Folklorico Dancers.

Several of the library’s meeting spaces were open for visits by the public including the gymnasium, multi-purpose room, and community room. Local community organizations handed out information pamphlets in the gymnasium and complimentary cake, juice, coffee, popcorn and face-painting was provided in the multi-purpose room. Art and crafts activities were hosted by Lakeshore Learning in the upper level community room.

The programs and services offered by the library consist of: books and media circulations; room rentals; computer classes; computers for public use; a family learning center; friends of the library; public art; story times; teensReach leadership program; and wireless internet.
