The lower side of downtown St.Paul is alive and well now with the many new restaurant additions. One of them is the Barrio Tequila Bar which is a haven for tequila fans. The atmosphere is trendy and upscale but very inviting. The bartenders love working there and seem to be having just as much fun as the customers.
The Barrio tequila menu is enormous with shots and pours ranging from $4 up to $95. The beer menu is also pretty good with a nice variety to choose from. Happy hour is from 2pm to 6pm Monday thru Saturday and 10pm to Midnight Sunday thru Thursday. The happy hour features $5 specialty drinks and $12 pitchers of select beer. This place is busy on the weekends but the bartenders are fast and helpful when choosing particular tequila. The Dance floor is small but fun and the music is also excellent.
The food is great with many selections to choose from. They have small plates at $7.50 which include Sugarcane skewered tequila shrimp with lemon ginger mojo and grilled skirt steak with chile lime tequila butter and fried yucca. There spicy crab soup with lime cumin and cilantro is a excellent lunch choice with a Mahi Mahi taco.
This is a great place to go to on the weekends for dancing and having a good time with your friends. Parking is much better then Downtown Minneapolis and with the addition of more lower town restaurants/bars it’s only going to get better.
