Barren River Lake State Resort Park, near Lucas, will hold its annual Honeymooner’s Weekend on Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17. The park is adamant that one does not need to be a newly wed to enjoy this event that celebrates Valentine’s Day.
The fun begins on Friday night with guests are invited to dress as their favorite entertainer and party like a rock star! A karaoke contest will be held including a contest for best costume. Single, duet, or group performances are welcome.
On Saturday afternoon it is time to find out how well you know your sweetheart. Park staff will lead a fun and maybe educational (for the couples) game of the “Not-So-Newlywed Game.”
Saturday evening will begin with a delicious buffet dinner in the Driftwood Restaurant followed by a dance. DJ Cindy Cossey will spin the tunes and even teach a few dance moves. In addition, there will be couples-themed games during the dance.
The park is offering a Friday and Saturday lodge room package for two for $270.00, a Friday and Saturday cottage package for four for $559.95, and a Saturday night lodge room for two for $149.00.
Saturday’s dinner and dance is priced at $75.00 per couple with dance only tickets are priced at $18.00 per person. Friday’s karaoke tickets are $12.00 per person.

Established as a state park in 1965, Barren River Lake State Resort Park facilities include a 51-room lodge overlooking a lake, 22 cottages each with two bedrooms and two baths, campgrounds, and the Driftwood Restaurant.
The park also offers meeting rooms, boating, fishing, golf, trails, horse stables, swimming, and picnic shelters. Nearby parks in the area are Mammoth Cave National Park, Old Mulkey Meeting House State Historic Site, and Dale Hollow State Resort Park.
Barren River Lake, near Glasgow, is less than 100 miles from Metro Louisville. From Louisville, take I-65 south to the Cumberland Parkway, east on the parkway to US-31E, and then south to the park. For complete and detailed directions, use Google Maps.
