Equestrians celebrate the Independence Day holiday weekend with breed and speed shows, fundraisers and fun shows, gymkhanas and rodeos, and lots more horse happenings across the American Midwest. Plenty pony up for parades as well.

The United Barrel Racing Association (UBRA) 3 Barrels 2 Hearts series is ongoing at the St. Croix County Fairgrounds in Glenwood City, Wisconsin, with July 2 competitions.

Tomah Saddle Club’s Summer Speed Series adds a July 2 installment in Tomah, Wisconsin.

In Escanaba, Michigan, the Upper Peninsula Quarter Horse Association has its UPQHA Summerfest Series show from July 3 to 6 at the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds.

The Trail Riders Saddle Club, Inc., has its Jill Houck Benefit with barrel racing and pole bending on July 3 at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

Showtime Arena of Deerfield, Wisconsin, hosts a National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) Approved Show on July 3.

Also on July 3, R.O.C. Ranch has a Fun/Speed Show in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin.

The Red Ridge Ranch Summer Gymkhana Series runs on in Mauston, Wisconsin, on July 3.

In Manawa, Wisconsin, the annual Midwestern Rodeo takes place July 4 through 6 at the Manawa Rodeo Grounds.

The 2014 Freedom Challenge Race comes to the Tomah Saddle Club Grounds of Tomah, Wisconsin, on July 4.

In Baldwin, Wisconsin, a St. Croix Riders Saddle Club Open WSCA All Game Show is set for July 4, approved by the Western Saddle Clubs Association.

On July 5 and 6, Areva Ridge Acres presents a Beyond the Bracing Patterns Clinic in DePere, Wisconsin.

The Iowa Buckskin Horse Association holds an All Breed (Any Color) Open and American Buckskin Registry Association (ABRA) Approved Show July 5 and 6 at the Iowa Equestrian Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Partners for Progress’ 2014 event lineup boasts two days of Benefit Open Horse Shows at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, on July 5 and 6.

In Black River Falls, Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Foundation Quarter Horse Association (WIFQHA) has a breed show on July 5 and 6 at the Jackson County Fair Park.

The 2014 Lazycreek Farm Pleasure Show Series continues July 5 in Juneau, Wisconsin.

Also on July 5, the 2nd Annual Notara Farm Horse Driving Trial rolls out in Verona, Wisconsin, at Notara Farm.

The Badger Horse Show Association (BHSA) July Independence Celebration Open Horse Show goes off July 6 at the Dodge County Fairgrounds near Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

In Le Sueur, Minnesota, a Fox Hollow Jackpot Open 4D Barrel Race runs at Fox Hollow Arena on July 6.
