The Lancaster Barnstormers will play their last home game of the regular season this afternoon, Sunday, 8 September. Suitably, it is Fan Appreciation Day. The first 1500 fans will receive a team poster. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to see a record broken. Relief pitcher Ross Peeples, who has been with the team from the beginning, will pitch his 312th game as a Barnstormer, breaking the record he tied just last night.
Last night the Barnstormers fell to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (SOMD) 7-2. The Blue Crabs kept the Barnstormers off the scoreboard until the bottom of the fourth. That was their only scoring inning.
The Barnstormers do still have still six games left. They begin with three games at the Long Island Ducks, followed by three at the SOMD. The Barnstormers sit at third place this season in the Freedom Division, sitting at 33-29. The Sugar Land Skeeters are leading the Division with 43 wins to only 18 loses. The team could potentially make the playoffs as a wild card, though not likely.
Get your tickets online or at the ballpark. Tickets range from $6 for a youth lawn seat to $13 for the dugout. Adult lawn seats are only $7 while a field box seat is $12. Home games are played at the Clipper Magazine Stadium. Today’s game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
