Barney Frank goes drama queen when “Today” host dares to ask him mean questions

Posted Tuesday, November 29, 2011, 12:03 PM

As described in a video-containing article by Christopher Santarelli for Glenn Beck's news website, The Blaze, Barney Frank got catty when Savannah Guthrie dared to ask him substantive questions on NBC’s Today show.

According to Santarelli's article, "Barney Frank Lashes Out at ‘Today’ Host for ‘Gotcha’ Questions During Interview":

… during an interview Tuesday morning with Savannah Guthrie on Today, Frank, who announced yesterday that he would not seek reelection, showed that he’s done playing nice with the media. After Guthrie pressed Frank on whether his announcement was fueled by political pressures, admitting defeat, or a change in the "tone" in Washington, Frank countered to Guthrie directly:

"You exemplify what I think is a change in the tone. You’ve managed to ask all sort of negative questions, I understand that’s the media current conception of control, it didn’t used to be that way…. It’s gotcha this, it’s gotcha that. It’s gotcha journalism, it’s gotcha politics."

Comments at The Blaze suggest that Frank will be missed, at least in terms of providing an object for ridicule. Among comments left to Santarelli's story were:

"AmericanStrega": "I‘ve said it before and I’m saying it again; WIth all the money this moron has stolen from the American People, you’d think he could afford some freaking teeth! Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, buy yourself a pair of dentures you mush-mouthed jack-smacker!"

"@leftfighter": "Poor Barney. He for four negative questions in a row. Now, at the very end of his career, he knows how Republicans feel on day one."

"thegreatcarnac": "The first thing a democrat does when asked real questions is to lash back at the media asking them. They do not address them nor take any credit for the debacle they usually have caused. Democrats are so used to soft-ball questions that when some media person has the nerve to ask them a tough one the go berserk. Barney Frank is a case in point. He and a few others have driven this economy into the ground and he gets mad when confronted with it."
