Barney creator’s son was charged with attempted murder according to a report at the Huffington Post. Earlier today, the Post reported that Barney creator’s son, Patrick Leach, has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot a man last month.
The Los Angeles District Attorney says Patrick Leach shot his 49-year-old neighbor in the chest last month during a dispute in the driveway the two men share at their luxury condominium complex. Sources say the son of 61-year-old Barney Creator, Sheryl Leach, was also charged with one count of assault with a semi-automatic firearm.
Leach was in court on Tuesday, where he pled not guilty to the attempted murder charge stemming from the January shooting. Police made the arrest after Leach’s neighbor, Eric Shanks, called 911 after having been shot by Leach over a dispute caused from a “trespassing issue.”
Patrick Leach left the scene of the incident, but police later spotted his black SUV, performed a traffic stop, and arrested the “Barney” heir.
"The victim was shot by a .45 handgun and was shot in the chest and the bullet went through his chest and out his shoulder," says Malibu Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore. Police say said Shank is lucky to be alive.
