Barnes & Noble announces cancellation of Michael Vick book signing tour

According to the Barnes & Noble website, the upcoming book signing tour, to promote Michael Vick's, Finally Free: An Autobiography, has been cancelled.

Shortly after the Vick book signing events were announced, a Care2 Petition was created asking the book seller not to host the tour for Vick, who is infamous for dog-fighting.

In addition to thousands of signatures on the petition, outraged dog lovers flooded the Barnes & Noble Facebook page demanding that the bookseller cancel Vick's appearances.

Much to the dismay of those making the requests, the tour was not cancelled by Barnes & Noble, but rather, by Vick's own publisher.

Today, the petition states:

The Petition was very successful, and all book signings for Michael Vick at Barnes & Noble were cancelled! Thanks everyone for your help with this effort!

Whether or not the petition was actually responsible for the cancellation of the tour remains unknown.
