You would be hard pressed to find a player not excited to be on the pitch with Houston's latest additions. Damarcus Beasley and Luis Garrido come Sunday evening against DC United. None are more excited then Dynamo forward Giles Barnes.
Barnes, second on the team in goals and assists and first in shots is thrilled to have a player of Beasley's stature on the field.
"He's a fantastic player. He came in after being off a couple of week's and looks like he never missed a beat," Barnes shared. "He's a fantastic professional. His career speaks for itself. He's a great acquisition for us."
The English native know what's it's like having a new element added into the mix that can play multiple positions and provide leadership gained over years of playing at the highest levels. Barnes who led Houston in scoring offense last season came to the Dynamo as a midfielder but has made the transition to scorer without missing a beat. He continues to play a crucial role in Houston's offense even causing some to say that as Barnes scores so goes the Dynamo success. Houston has lost just once this season when the 8 veteran has recorded a goal or an assist. He is excited about the opportunity for more chances with an attacking fullback pushing the play and able to deliver great balls into the box.
"He's an attacking fullback. He can play midfield. He's a good passer of the ball," continued Barnes. " He delivers a good ball into the box as well and hopefully I will be on the receiving end of some of those. He's a very vocal person and he's been around football a long time and he brings great leadership to the team as well."
Sunday night Houston gets a chance to get its season back on track and Barnes will get his chance to mesh his game with Beasley's in a 7:00p.m. kick-off
