Just because we are in the cooler months of the year, do not get mixed up into thinking water is not needed or not as important. Not only rabbits, but all animals need to consume just as much water in the cooler months as they do in the hot months. It is very easy to think that they are not consuming as much just because it is cooler. If you notice your rabbit not eating as much, first check water intake.
Make sure that he or she has fresh water in front of them at all times. Clean out their water dish, crock or bottle a minimum of once a week. Water can go stale just like feed can and if their water is stale that may be why they are not drinking as much, which results in not eating as much.
Just adding water to what is already there does not make water good; if that water is stale and dirty it just makes it half as bad. It is best, when adding water, to dump out old water and add fresh. A rabbit that drinks a lot will usually eat more. Rabbits are one animal that will not eat if they do not have water, and will drink more the fresher the water is.
