A barista in Washington was fired over his blog. Pop2It reported the incident on Feb. 12.
Matt Watson, 30, worked at All City Coffee in the Seattle area until it was revealed that he was the anonymous blogger who wrote at “The Bitter Barista.” The blog is a collection of funny and sometimes crude thoughts a barista has over the course of the day.
The blogger was outed by guys who run another coffee website, Sprudge, who found the bitter ramblings to be mean and offensive. Some people take their coffee very seriously.
The blog is labeled as satire, but Watson’s employers didn’t find it to be very humorous. The tone of the posts wasn’t the only problem. Time stamps indicated Matt was posting while he was on the clock at the coffee shop, which goes against most company policies.
Watson has already received job offers from other coffee shops. He also hopes to put together a coffee table book based on posts from The Bitter Barista.
