Barenaked Ladies add 2014 Canadian summer tour dates

Barenaked Ladies has started fleshing out their 2014 summer tour schedule with a couple of new dates in Canada. The additions include a maritime Canada Day show in PEI and a Record Store Day appearance in Toronto.

According to an updated posted April 11 at the band's official Facebook page, the veteran Canuck alt-rockers will return home to the Great White North to perform on July 1 in Charlottetown, PEI at Charlottetown Event Grounds. The bill also includes a diverse line-up of home-grown talent, including indie-rock duo Tegan and Sara, rapper Classified, country singer George Canyon, singer-songwriter Roch Voisine, crooner David Myles and also boasts Canada's largest fireworks display.

In addition, BNL's tour page at Pollstar.com also show new Canadian listings for the band, including a Record Store Day performance and autograph signing appearance on April 19 in Toronto at Sunrise Records, as well as a July 30 stop in Saskatoon, SK at Bessborough Gardens. The band will also join Lady Gaga, Journey, The Killers and the rest of the huge line up performing at RBC Bluesfest, which runs July 3 - July 1 with BNL appearing at the festival on July 11 in Ottawa, ON at Lebreton Flats Park.

The multi-Juno winner recently wrapped up a string of dates North America in support of their 11th studio album, "Grinning Streak." Earlier this week, they made a TV appearance on CBC's "Hockey Night in Canada," performing the National Anthem prior to the NHL game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets.

Last month, the Scarborough, ON natives announced their first round of U.S. summer tour dates, which kick off July 18 in Newport, R.I. as part of the Newport Sunset Music Series at Newport Yachting Centre and wrap up Aug. 8 in Tulsa, Okla. at River Spirit Casino. Did you know? Barenaked Ladies' 2013 release "Grinning Streak" is the band's 11th studio album and their first since 2010's "All in Good Time," which marked their first recording since the departure of founding member Steven Page, who left the band in 2009 to pursue a solo career.
