Barefoot Wines has five new offerings for hot summer days

Summer is rapidly approaching and Barefoot Wines has four new products to ward off the afternoon heat.

Barefoot has created Barefoot Refresh, introduced in May of 2013 and now the leader in the “refreshing wine category”.

These lighter wines are designed not only for wine drinkers, but also for those who want an alternative to a beer on a warm summer afternoon. These wines are designed to be consumed chilled, and preferably on the rocks.

Barefoot’s inaugural offering last year had four selections. The current Barefoot release has five unique styles, highlighted by the 2014 release of Crisp Red.

The first of the line is the popular Barefoot Crisp White. Crisp White is highlighted by melon and pear on the nose and finishes with a lingering lemony taste. With an alcohol content of 9%, it is a wine for lasting enjoyment on a warm day.

Crisp Red, the newest offering, greets you with cherry, raspberry and apple on the nose with a finish of light citrus on the palate. The alcohol content of the Crisp Red is 9.5%.

A new twist from Barefoot is their Perfectly Pink wine. Light, refreshing and bubbly, the small amount of effervescence makes this an alternative to their full sparkling wines. Alcohol content in the Perfectly Pink is 9%

Summer Red is a lighter red with lasting overtones of ripe berries. It does not fill your mouth in a way a cabernet sauvignon might, rather it allows you to enjoy the lighter taste, again over ice is nice. Alcohol is 9% in the Summer Red.

Sweet White rounds out Barefoot’s lighter wine offerings. As the name indicates, Sweet White addresses your palate with a touch of summer sweetness. A chance to sip this while eating a cold melon on a hot summer’s day is a true treat. Alcohol content is again 9%.

Barefoot Wines provided samplings of these wines to the Long Beach Wine Examiner.

Have a winederful day!
