Whether you’re just starting to think about starting your own business, or you’re leading a successful enterprise, plan to listen to entrepeurs Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey when they visit Johnson County Community College (JCCC) in Overland Park, KS on April 30.

The founders of Barefoot Wine didn’t know anything about vineyards or wineries when they started. They didn’t have any money. And yet Houlihan and Harvey built a top-selling wine brand, then sold their company to a larger wine company and stayed on for a year to keep the brand alive.

Houlihan and Harvey will tell their story twice on Wednesday, April 30, at JCCC:

  • 11 a.m. to noon in the Hudson Auditorium of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art on campus
  • 6 to 7 p.m. in the Wysong Family Culinary Theatre of the Hospitality and Culinary Academy on campus.

The programs are free and open to the public, and will be followed by 30 minutes of networking and book-signing. The first 50 attendees will receive a free copy of Houlihan and Harvey’s book, The Barefoot Spirit: How Hardship, Hustle, and Heart Built America’s #1 Wine Brand.

Their presentations will share the “Barefoot Spirit,” the guiding principles they used to achieve their success, and the lessons they learned building the barefoot brand. The tools and standards they present can be used by any entrepreneur to build a successful business.

The presentation is sponsored by the JCCC Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization and is underwritten by the JCCC Foundation.
