Fans of classic arcade games and good beer no longer need to travel to Brooklyn to get the two in one convenient package—Barcade, the hipster sanctuary famous for offering $5 beers and $0.25 games has set up a location here in Jersey City.
The bar had its soft opening just this past Easter weekend, and so far business has been good. The location is quite a bit bigger than the Brooklyn original, and one-ups it with an actual food menu. Small plates start at $1.25 and top out at $12, while sandwiches will run you about $9. Food is served daily from noon to midnight.
Barcade wouldn't be anything without its beer and games, of course. On tap this week they have about 25 beers and ciders, including Ithaca Flower Power, Victory Yakima Glory, and Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre. The beers may change weekly, but the games are a little more permanent, and Barcade Jersey City's lineup includes Arkanoid, Mr. Do!, Burgertime, Pong, and many other titles not found in the Brooklyn location.
Barcade Jersey City is located at 163 Newark Avenue, near Barrow Street with the closest PATH station at Grove Street. And while the arcade games are safe for all ages, only those 21 or over can enter.
