Barbara Walters sets the record straight about who's leaving 'The View'

It doesn't pay to listen to rumors. It is even worse to repeat rumors as facts. That's what a lot of reporters did in reference to "The View." On Monday, March 11, co-owner and co-host of "The View," Barbara Walters set the record straight by saying, "Joy Behar is leaving while Elisabeth Hasselbeck is staying."

That was the first topic of conversation on "The View" in light of all the rumors over the weekend.

First, Walters said it is true that Behar is leaving after 16 years to pursue others goals. Behar has been on the show since it started in 1997. Then Behar gave her 10 reasons for leaving.

See Behar's 10 reasons for leaving. Remember Behar is a comedian.

Next, Walters focused on the rumors that Hasselbeck was being fired because of her political views and conflicts on the show. Walters said in essence that they like it that Hasselbeck had different views. She said:

"It is what gives balance to the show."

So, the botom line is that Joy Behar is leaving in August. Elisabeth Hasselbeck will continue to co-host the daytime talk show as she goes into her 10th year.
