Barbara Walters honored by ABC News

ABC News has renamed a building at its headquarters in Manhattan for the TV journalism pioneer, "The Barbara Walters Building."

It's part of a complex on West 66th Street that includes the WABC-TV studios.

On Friday, after more than five decades of entertaining and informing generations, Barbara will say goodbye to regular TV appearances when she signs off from 'The View'.

She will host a two-hour prime-time special Friday night on 9 on Channel 7.

Walters, the first woman to co-host network morning and evening newscasts, has called ABC News home since 1976.

The ABC News building is among several buildings that make up the ABC complex along 66th Street, between Columbus Ave. and Central Park West, which is also known as Peter Jennings Way, named for the longtime "World News Tonight" anchor who passed away in 2005.

The network says Walters will remain an executive producer with The View and will make special ABC News appearances as events warrant. Source: ABC News
