Barbara Walters is not having a great 2013. First she tripped on a stair and hit her head, causing her to be hospitalized just before the inauguration on Jan. 19. Now, Business Week is reporting on Jan. 28 that she will remain in the hospital due to contracting chickenpox.
Goldberg says Walters has been told to take it easy and rest. She is not being permitted any visitors at this time. Goldberg also doled out a little medical advice of her own wen she said, "And we're telling you, Barbara, no scratching!"
At 83, it seems unusual that the news journalist and TV personality has missed out on what is typically a childhood disease. In someone Walters’ age, the condition can be serious because it can lead to other ailments including pneumonia.
Her hospitalization from the fall was primarily precautionary. She was kept longer than expected because of a lingering fever and now doctors know why.
Goldberg sent this message to her friend and co-worker:
"We love you, we miss you. We just don't want to hug you."
