According to Food World News and ABC News on April 7 Barbara Walters will make her final appearance on the talk show “The View” on May 16. The farewell to Barbara will be a celebration to all her achievements in a two-hour special including segments about her life, career and television appearances. This major icon will also have a ceremony dedicated in her honor that will take place something this spring.

Barbara Walters has announced that she will be retiring in May stating: "I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain," Walters explained. "I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women—and OK, some men, too—who will be taking my place."

She is now eighty-four years old and has given so much to the world as a broadcast journalist, author and television personality. Over the years she has co-anchored for ABC Evening News, hosted morning news shows, been inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the GLAAD Excellence in Media award, Emmy Awards as well as being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Now she wants the quiet life to enjoy on her own terms without any schedules to follow that aren’t her own. She sure does deserve to retire her way and enjoy all the simple things and life as well as family and friends. She has given so much to the world and now she wants to settle and sit back, relax and enjoy all the good times and adventures the future has to offer.

Thank you Barbara Walters for all you have done and enjoy each day of your retirement!
