Barbara Walters exhibited her journalistic instincts last Thursday on daytime program, “The View.” She was asked about Russian former anchorwoman Liz Wahl’s on-air resignation protesting the Russian government's pro-Putin propaganda on the network.
A noticeably angry Walters said, “She is working for a Russian network, therefore, she is protesting the Russians!”
The former ABC anchor and “20/20” host admitted it was Wahl’s “personal choice Walters went on to say that while she can understand Wahl's “personal choice.”, But she also said, “She urges not to “make her a hero for protesting. She is working for the government.”
Walters was greeted by her colleagues at “The View” with strong disagreement. Panelist Sherri Shepherd vigorously stood up for Wahl.
Shepard told Walters, “Even though she was working for the government, it was Russian, but she's saying ‘it's still every day I've got to do this, I'm not feeling good inside. It's violating what I'm feeling, so it's okay.’”
The debate ended in a stand-off.
