On Wednesday night Barbara Walters presented the “10 Most Fascinating People of 2009,” which included “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert. During “Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009” interview with Adam Lambert, Barbara Walters asked Adam Lambert about his highly criticized AMA performance and his sexuality.
Barbara began the interview by asking Adam Lambert about his AMA performance stating, “It was called raunchy, rude, you groped a female dancer, you kissed a male musician. Why did you do this?” Lamberts reply to Walters was, “Adrenalin is a funny, funny thing and I just got really excited.” When asked if he regretted his performance at the AMA’s Adam Lambert replied, “No, no regrets.”
Barbara Walters went on to state during his days on “American Idol” he was like the love-child of Madonna and Elvis.
She then went on to ask Adam Lambert about his “Rolling Stone” magazine interview in which he stated for the first time publically he was gay. Walters then asked Adam Lambert if that was a hard thing to do? Adam Lambert replied, “Oh, if was a relief…Yes, I am a homosexual, deal with it!” “It doesn’t matter who I’m sleeping with, what matters is, I’m singing, it’s my voice.”
Also rounding out “Barbara Walters 10 Most fascinating People of 2009” were Lady Gaga, Glenn Beck, Tyler Perry, Kate Gosselin, Sarah Palin, Brett Favre, Jenny Sanford, Michael Jackson's three children and the mystery guest Michelle Obama.
Adam Lambert will also be on "The View" Thursday 11/10c on ABC.

I think Adam Lambert is fascinating - but she spent too much time asking about the AMA performance and his coming out - his outlook on the music industry and his musical direction would have made it much more fascinating
Of course he should have been on the list. He is an extremely talented performer who has done something personally courageous--be honest about who he is. It is no surprise that Steven Spielberg considers Adam a hero. What is unfortunate is what many are saying and doing to him. If you doubt the homophobia in this society just watch Bill O'Rielly tear into Barbara Walters for having a GAY guy on her show.
OF course! Adam is fascinating, he's one of the most talked about people this year. I do wish she had spent more time talking about his voice and his music, he's so talented!!
Adam Lambert is fascinating? When I knew the person she was calling herself Adel ...wise up people, this is a gender alteration. This person will do anything for a buck, which
includes prostitution.
Of course Adam has fascinated America this year. The internet has been buzzing with every movement and detail of his life since he first appeared on American Idol. Here's a guy who broke the mold with his talent, his style, and his originality. He didn't want his sexuality to be the thing talked about, but since the media has seemed to define him by it regardless of his earlier attempts to make it a non-issue, he has embraced it.
Of course Adam is fascinating. He is my top Google search every morning and next year this time he'll be even more fascinating. Loved hearing what he had to say and he's easy on the eyes too. But we can't forget his incredible voice and range which is after all most important. Maybe next year when he is picked again Ms. Walters can ask him more about his music and less about his sexuality and the AMAs.
Yes, Adam Lambert should have been on her list! However, the terrible little snippet interview that focused on the AMA performance instead of his wonderful talent and super new CD made me sick! I stayed up late to watch and was very disappointed with her interview. Even the interview with Lady GAGA was focused more on her sexuality than her music! I will not watch Barbara Walters again, or The View. I have also stopped watching ABC for good!
Adam definitely belongs on this year's list. I wish him the best, as he has the talent and charisma to be a superstar. Interview was a bit too focused on his sexual preference.
A lot of fans probably wish he was interested in females also, (like Lady Gaga is).
YES Adam Lambert is definitely one of the most fascinating people this year! Overall the show was not done very well, Barbara Walters has caved to the sensationalism that takes place in all the media. Her going on the disgusting Bill O'Rielly show to hawk her show was also very disappointing. BO is a pig-there is nothing good to say about him.
Adam is great singer and very hot!
yup, adam belongs .... his voice alone is attention getting .... it's amazing :-)
No question Adam should have made the list - he has incredible talent and managed to amass a world-wide very dedicated fanbase in short order. The firestorm over his AMA performance shows that he is an extremely controversial figure and I do wish there was less emphasis on his sexuality. However, I find ABC rather hypocritical considering Lady GaGa's performance at the end of Barbara Walter's program. Definitely raunchy, so where was the outrage? Double standards for sure. Adam needs to keep it clean for a while and focus on his amazing vocals. Love his CD, the longer I listen, the better it gets. It's energizing, it's fun, it's soul-searching. Well done, Adam.
Adam is THE MOST fascinating people ON EARTH
Yes, ADAM is both fascinating and honest. Okay people ... he's gay. How many times does he have to reaffirm that? I hope his next interview focuses on his album ... which is AMAZING ... his charity for kids ... DonorsChoose.org ... which his fans have embraced and have given over $250K ... his love of music & his struggle to get to where he is. Next time ... let me ask the questions. However, I was happy to see that his video TIME FOR MIRACLES was shown on TV ... FINALLY!!!
Yes, he should have been on the list, but he also should have had a little more time to speak. He is such an eloquent speaker, and he was lucky to get 10 words into this interview!
I find Adam Lambert very fascinating. since I first saw him on AI this season, I have googled hime every day, and attended the Idol tour for the first time ever, twice! He brings a much needed excitement to the universe, and we need that! I love this kid to pieces, no matter what.
When people see that he is the real deal they will not picking him apart, hopefully! Very talented young man.
Looks like all the media wants to talk about is his sexuality. Soooo very tiring and these interviews lack imagination and originality. What we have is a country that is obsessed with anything low-brow. They overlook his huge amazing voice and talent. Shame on them.
Interviews end up being more about the zap question that the interviewer comes up with than about the interviewee.
I agree that Adam should be on the list and also agree with the other posters that he needed to speak longer. He is a great interviewer and anyone who follows him already knows he is gay and would like to listen to him speak about other subjects. I do thank Barbara and ABC for giving him another chance. Adam is a sweety.
Of course Adam should have made the list, he is one of the best singer and entertainers to come along in a long time. I wished she focused more on him and his singing. Adam is such a beautiful soul, he is inspiring for his courage and spirit. Bill O should take a lesson from Steven Spielberg who spoke about honouring all human life called Adam his hero. Bill is a detriment to his fellow man letting his fears keep him in the dark ages.
I think Adam deserved to be on the list for sure! He has fascinated me and so many others I know all year! I don't think it was a good interview at all thoug. I was looking forward to this one...isn't Barbara supposed to be known for getting to the heart of the person, for digging deeper...looks to me like she just hit the same tired questions we've all heard a thousand times...color me dissapointed! Hopefully they give him time to charm some on the view today.
I think Adam is wonderful, was disappointed that Barbara only wanted to talk sex with several. Adam, Lady Gaga, Mrs. Sanford. There are so many more questions that could have been asked, she asked same old, same old that we already know. I agree with DD.
Absolutely ADAM should have been on that list (and more to come). What isn't fascinating about him?. He is magical, super talented, handsome, and smart. He is someone who we will be interested in knowing about for a long, long time. A longer interview would have been better. He is not just 'Gay'.
Yes Adam Lambert was one of my choices. I was surprised at Lady Gaga because I hadn't really liked her. I knew she was the girl who ran around like an MJ kid covered in masks and weird costumes but I wasn't interested in her music. On Idol Adam Lambert had brought her up and then Post Idol I had heard she gave him a song to sing. I listened to Fever and after hearing it and loving it I bought one of her albums. Now I like her. But I still don't know much about her or why she was on the list. Adam fascinates me. His music speaks to me. It brings me back to my youth and makes me want to listen to music again. I've been buying music of artists he recommends. Scissor Sisters, Katey Perry. If he names them I go out and get them and I have liked all the ones he suggests. He knows music.
I was disappointed Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga were selected for Barbara Walters Top Ten Most Fascinating People when I think of so many other men and women who contribute towards American society in a more positive manner, such as Taylor Swift, Ellen Degeneres or those serving our country in Iraq. Unfortunate the choice for this list is based on "shock value."
Adam Lambert is a very good singer, I really loved him on american idol and i knew he was gay...Being gay does not mean you have to act the way he did on ama.. Every one was laughing because i liked him .How embarasing...Well i guess they were right he faked his way in....LoL
