Barb Honchak to fight Vanessa Porto for flyweight title at Invicta FC 5

Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp revealed in a Jan. 3 interview with Darce Side Radio that a flyweight title match between Barb "Little Warrior" Honchak and Vanessa Porto is in the works for Invicta FC 5.

"You always try to stay ahead of the curve," Knapp said of her fight scheduling routine. "We're already working on it. We're going to be looking at a 125-pound title match between Barb Honchak and Vanessa Porto for the title shot on that card."

Knapp also announced that Invicta FC 5 is likely to take place either in the last week of March or the first week of April.

The fight has not yet been officially announced, but Knapp said it should be confirmed shortly after Invicta FC 4.

As for the venue, Invicta FC 5 will likely be held at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., which was the site of the first four Invicta Fighting Championships events.

No other fight announcements have been made yet for Invicta FC 5.

Honchak, 33, is riding a six-fight win streak, including notable victories over Felice Herrig and Aisling Daly. She's ranked No. 4 in the world in the flyweight ranks, according to the Unified Women's Mixed Martial Arts ranking system.

Porto, 28, is a winner of two of her last three, including a convincing victory over MMA legend Tara LaRosa at Invicta FC 3. The Unified Women's Mixed Martial Arts have her ranked No. 6 in the world in the 125-pound weight class.

Jessica "Evil" Eye and Sheila "The German Tank" Gaff are currently ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the flyweight division, but neither are signed to Invicta FC.
