Barack skips Valentine's Day with Michelle: Opts for California golf weekend

"Michelle didn’t think it was worth having a commuter marriage..."

While most American families find it financially difficult to afford a simple three day weekend semi-vacation, the Family Obama will be enjoying this Presidents Day national holiday not only on the road, but separated by an entire continent, as reported by the New York Daily News on Feb. 13, 2014.

Earlier this week, Barack Obama hosted French President François Hollande on a tour of Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson in Charlottesville, Virginia where he was caught on a hot mic stating "that's the good thing as a president, I can do whatever I want."

Evidently, Obama doesn't want to spend either Valentine's Day nor any of the long Presidents Day weekend with his wife and daughters.

Regardless if Obama's comments was a flippant slip of the tongue or not, tongues of the American version of British "Royal Watchers" have been wagging that this may be the latest cracks in the walls of the Obama version of Camelot.

As reported, Obama started Valentine's Day at a House Democratic Issues Conference in Maryland, then jetted off to the California golf Mecca of Rancho Mirage to spend the bulk of the weekend golfing and meeting with Jordan's King Abdullah II.

Without delving into details, the Daily News flatly reported that Michelle, Sasha and Malia Obama will "be away on their own travels" over the three day long Presidents Day weekend.

Not the first time ...

The Obamas raised eyebrows at the presumed end of the family Christmas vacation in Hawaii when Obama announced that his betrothed would remain in the American South-Sea paradise for an additional week while he and their daughters returned to Washington, DC.

Widely ignored by most of the American media, it was uncovered that when Barack Obama was first elected to the United States Senate in 2005, Michelle decided that she and their daughters would stay in Chicago vice moving to the nation's capitol to reside with her husband.

Yet the self-inflicted separation of the couple predates the US Senate win. Barack Obama served as an Illinois State Senator from 1997-2004.

During that time frame the couple, again, elected to reside in separate locations.

In a January, 2012 article in the left-of-center news portal The Daily Beast, it was revealed that while Barack lived and worked in the Illinois state capitol of Springfield, Michelle took a pass on relocating:

"His tenure in the statehouse was marked by him complaining that the work wasn’t serious enough.

Michelle didn’t think it was worth having a commuter marriage."
