The alderman who runs the Hyde Park ward where President Barack Obama’s Chicago residence is located has taken the lead in her Democratic primary election race for president of the Cook County Board, according to the latest Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll.

Toni Preckwinkle is a solid 12 points ahead of her nearest opponent, voters told pollsters when asked, “If the election were held today…”
