On Sunday, The Blaze reported that ISIS, the breakaway al Qaeda group that has taken a large area of Iraq and northern Syria, has declared a caliphate in the region and named Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as its leader. Twitchy said a number of people blamed Barack Obama for the rise of the Islamic state, adding that Americans were warned that such an event would take place.

"The legality of all emirates, groups, states and organizations becomes null by the expansion of the caliph's authority and the arrival of its troops to their areas," said spokesman Abu Mohamed al-Adnani. "Listen to your caliph and obey him. Support your state, which grows every day.''

"The Shura [council] of the Islamic State met and discussed this issue [of the caliphate] ... the Islamic State decided to establish an Islamic caliphate and to designate a caliph for the state of the Muslims," al-Adnani added.

The group has also dropped 'Iraq' and 'the Levant' from its official documents and now simply calls itself the "Islamic State," Al-Jazeeera said.

For many on Twitter, it was the end result of Barack Obama's policies, Twitchy noted.

"OBAMA BUILT THAT," one person tweeted.

"They should thank President Obama: ISIS declares new Islamic caliphate," another person added.

"ISIS are footsoldiers. It is Obama's Caliphate. He enabled it. He even freed the boss," tweeted Twitter user "Jo Anne Moretti." The same person also said in another tweet that the U.S. armed ISIS in Libya and Syria and freed Baghdadi.

Others said Glenn Beck warned America that a new Islamic caliphate was coming, and was soundly ridiculed for his prediction.

"Laughing as I recall how Glenn Beck was ridiculed by the left for stating the obvious about Islam desire for Caliphate," one person tweeted.

Beck made the prediction in 2011 and was called “paranoid” and “conspiratorial” for discussing the possibility of an Islamic caliphate. But it now seems as though he was right -- at least about the event.

In 2012, he also said President Obama and the media played a role by refusing to point out the dangers posed by those dubbed "moderate" Islamists.

"Those who want to restore an Islamic caliphate 'are succeeding' as, according to Glenn, the mainstream media along with the Obama administration are dubbing them 'moderate Islamists,'” The Blaze reported in 2012. “'The media has become a danger to mankind,' Glenn said pointedly as he played clips of the many atrocities carried out by members of this 'moderate community' that the media has failed to report on. We will suffer the 'consequences of their arrogance and stupidity,' he added."
