Opening late August 2014 in the West Loop, Bar Takito will be a Latin inspired shared-plate concept drawing inspiration from Mexico, Central and South America. The 3,000 square foot restaurant comes from the same hospitality group who opened Takito Kitchen in Wicker Park in March 2013, which includes Managing Partners Anshul Mangal and Mario Ponce, Chef/Partner David Dworshak (Carnivale, Spring) and GM/Partner Adam Weber (Trenchermen, Mercadito, Roka Akor).

The menu, which will use fresh and local ingredients, will steer away from Takito Kitchen's modern taco focus and, instead, feature seasonal shared plates, ceviches, seafood from the plancha, arepas and more. Staying true to its Takito roots, the menu will contain four to six taco options, and many of the shared plates will be available with tortillas.

In line with the restaurant's name, Chef Dworshak will integrate several elements of the bar together with the food utilizing ingredients like bitters, hops, malt, spirits, beer and wine. Diners might expect to see the following menu items: Cheese Stuffed Arepa with roasted mushrooms, chorizo, scallions and aji peanut sauce, and Maple Creek Farms Mixiotes with chile herb rubbed pork cooked in banana leaves with tomato salad, avocado and cilantro, available with a side of beer tortillas.

The complementary beverage program led by Adam Weber will offer an expansive specialty cocktail, margarita, and craft beer selection. Highlights might include The Medicine Man with cilantro, jalapeno, cucumber, mint, aloe vera and tequila, and Pisco Olivo with grapefruit, ginger, honey, Caribbean spices and pisco.

Designed by D+K Architects and Interior in conjunction with designer Alex Alcott, the space will house about 130 to 160 people for lunch, dinner, and soon-after-opening, brunch. About twice the size of the group's first outpost, Takito Kitchen, Bar Takito will have a semi-private area with a private bar that accommodates 40-seated guests and 50 to 60 standing. In the warmer months, Bar Takito will have a 60 to 80-seat patio along Morgan St.
