Owner Mark Wilson has called in Jon Taffer to help rescue his bar, which is failing because another local bar has taken all the business in the town. As Jon sat in his car and watched the goings on inside. With him was mixologist Elayne Duff. Jon also noticed that for a sports bar, there were no televisions. As Mark sat at the bar, he looked like he had already given up. As the female staff did not get along, there were several fights that were seen on the cameras. There was a hypnotist performing his act that evening. Jon decided to go in and do a fake recon. He told the hypnotist to end his act and sat at the bar for a while. Keller, a bartender used to date another bartender named Jesse. Taylor, a server does not get along with Keller.
As Jon told Mark that he was leaving, he told him he would have to think about rescuing the bar, Mark went to the back and was in tears, fearing he would lose his house and his business. Mark thinks his crew said something to Jon to chase him away and yelled at them after Jon left.
The next day when Jon returned, he played back the fighting experienced by the staff. Jon told Keller to apologize to Taylor and told Mark that he could have settled this long ago. He then introduced Elayne to the staff and also brought in Brandy Starr, a hospitality expert with fifteen years experience.
Jon took a walk through the entire bar and found an abundance of bacteria and mouse feces along with sticky bottles covered in germs. Then Jon told them to clean the place before they could start training for the stress test that night.
What Elayne noticed was, the bartenders had no idea how to tend bar, or pour a drink, so she had her work cut out for her. As the bar was ready to accept the stress test crowd, the staff was told not to have any drama. As people waited too long for their drinks, they finally left to head to Whiskey Tango, their competition. After they closed, Jon told Mark that he did not come through as an owner/manager to help pick up the slack. When he asked the rest of the staff who the worst employee was; they all pointed to Mark.
When Mark called Taylor after they waited two hours for her to show up, Jon made him call and fire her. Then Jon told the staff that they were going to wipe out the competition, by turning the place into a country nightclub.
When the training started, they made them drill and drill until they got it right. Drink after drink was dumped out because it was not done properly. When Jon took the staff outside to see the new name, they were happy to see the new name Badlands Country Nightclub. The interior was awesome; John outdid himself on this makeover. The lighting, music and dance floor were perfect. When they opened, the service was still slow, but Mark pulled his weight and helped where needed. Jesse was the best bartender, and Elayne was very pleased with him.
Six weeks after the relaunch, sales have increased by 30%; the cat fights have ceased, and Mark and Ozzie are no longer at risk of losing their home, thanks to Jon and his staff at "Bar Rescue."
