Banned Prayer and the Saint of 9/11

As the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks quickly approaches, most of us are thinking about how we will mark the tragic day. The official dedication of the 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan is set for Sunday, but Mayor Michael Bloomberg made it known a few days ago that religious leaders and first responders will have no part in the ceremony.

But, a group of clergy is not taking the ban lying down. Leaders are planning to gather in front of Saint Paul’s Chapel in lower Manhattan at 10 am on September 10th – Saturday – and walk to Ground Zero for prayer and reflection.

Organized by Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, and others, the meeting is a response to the ban and a ministry to those who found comfort in their faith throughout the post 9/11 decade.

Below is a link to an interview regarding the ban on clergy at Ground Zero on the 10th Anniversary .

The "first person taken out of the rubble" mentioned in the interview was Father Mychal Judge, a chaplain for the NYFD. In a brilliant memorial to him, his humanity as well as his heroism is shown in the film, "Saint of 9/11",

Three steps I would like to present to my friends on the eastern shore and inland Va. New York City is a 6 hour drive from the Delmarva Peninsula. I have driven it many times. I would invite all who can to join "Ground Zero Prayer and Worship" on Saturday.

Step 1: Go to http://councilmancabrera.com/ today and sign the petition.

Step 2: Join the "Ground Zero Prayer and Worship" Facebook page to show support.

Step 3: Go there. Organze and bring your friends and family and church.

Make an effort to show the we love God and the USA.

On a side note, a friend posted this on Facebook this morning.

"A VA college professor stood on his chair and said, "If GOD really exists, knock me off my chair." Nothing happened. The class was quiet. He said "See? I'll give it a couple more minutes". A Marine Vet stood up, punched him in the face knocking him out and off the chair, then sat back down. As the Professor came to he looked at his student and said, "WHY'D YOU DO THAT?" He said, "GOD was busy protecting my buddies still fighting for your right to say and do stupid sh*t like this, so HE SENT ME"

May God bless you.
