A 24-year-old man who robbed a Manatee County bank on Monday died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, reports the Herald Tribune.

On Monday morning, Ross Chrisman was pursued by authorities after robbing Florida Bank. Stopping his vehicle on 33rd Street East, Chrisman shot Lt. Bob Mealy in the right arm when Mealy approached Chrisman's white pick-up truck. Mealy was treated and released from the hospital, suffering only a minor injury.

A preliminary autopsy shows that Chrisman killed himself, according to the Sheriff's Office. A dead dog was also found in the truck. Authorities believe Chrisman killed the dog before taking his own life.
