You look out your window and you just may think the following is a joke.

High school softball and baseball pitchers/catchers will start practicing around Maine in just five days.

Full team practices for all spring teams will start on March 31st.

Those practices will obviously be inside for a while as the fields around Eastern Maine are snow covered, many with more than a foot of the white stuff.

The Bangor Christian baseball team is the two time defending class D state champion.

The Patriots are scheduled to open the season on April 21st.

It is unlikely that the regular season will get underway as scheduled.

Pitching depth will be key for baseball teams to get through what will most likely be a schedule that will be filled with busy weeks during the month of May.

Bangor Christian has defeated Buckfield in the state title game each of the last two seasons.

The Patriots finished 2013 with a 20-1 record.

Bangor Christian softball will be looking to improve on a 3-13 record.
