The Bangor Comrades and Brewer Falcons American Legion baseball teams have advanced to the state tournament that will begin on Wednesday at the Winkin Complex on the campus of Husson University.

Peter Kemble pitched a complete game four hitter and the Comrades offense led by Justin Courtney exploded en route to an 11-1 victory over Trenton on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Bangor advances to take on the Falcons in the zone 1 championship game on Sunday afternoon.

If Brewer wins the 1 p.m. game they would win the zone championship. If Bangor wins, it would force a 4 p.m.contest.

Logan Rogerson hit a game winning two run triple in the ninth inning to lift the Falcons to a 6-5 victory over Bangor on Friday evening.

The zone 1 champion will play Staples Crossing from South Berwick in the first game of the state tournament. The runner up will conclude day 1 with a game against South Portland.

Post 51 from Oakland, Bessey Motors from South Paris, Pasttime from Lewiston, and Franklin County from Farmington will also participate in the double elmination tournament.

Colton Lawrence pitched a complete game in leading Franklin County to a 4-1 victory over Westbrook in a play in game on Saturday morning.

In the other play in game, Bessey Motors pounded out 14 hits and rolled to a 11-1 victory over Fayette-Staples on Saturday afternoon.

This is the first time that Husson University will be hosting the state tournament. Zone 1 also hosted the tournament in 1993, 1997, and 2001. All those were held at Mansfield stadium in Bangor.

Bangor and Brewer will be looking to become the first zone 1 state champion since 1997, when Brewer walked away with the state title.

Windham won the championship last year.
