"BBQ" may be the last part of the "Bands, Brew and BBQ" moniker, but it's a huge part of this SeaWorld Orlando event. Each year, you get the chance to choose from top names in BBQ, including food from SeaWorld Orlando's own chefs. This year, participating restaurants are Sonny's BBQ, Tony Roma's, and Cecil's Texas Style BBQ.
Once those mouthwatering aromas hit your nose, it will be hard to choose which food to try. Don't worry, you can always come back and try more than one because Bands, Brew and BBQ runs every weekend through March 17.
The Bands, Brew and BBQ area opens at 11:30 a.m., and it's best to dine early because the crowd gets thicker as the afternoon wears on. This year, SeaWorld Orlando added a spacious seating area that also has a shaded coloring spot for kids, convenient restrooms, and visits by some of the park's animal ambassadors.
While I was at Bands, Brew and BBQ on opening day, I had no trouble finding a nice, shady table. I also got to meet Scout the opossum and a cute little baby gator.
There are tables out around the lakeside area, too, but people tend to grab the first spot they see, so those fill up quickly. You're much better off just walking a little farther to the big seating area.
For the first weekend, I had a heaping plate of SeaWorld ribs, slathered with extra sauce, with macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. The plate costs $12 and could easily feed two people. You'll be tempted to get your food at the first booth you see, but relax, walk around, and make a note of which each booth offers before you make your final choice.
If you're planning to eat and see the concert, consider getting the VIP package for $39 you get your meal and reserved concert seating.
If you missed my article on the bands, go back to part one. You can read more about the brew in part two.
