Bands, benefits and banjos this week in live Orlando local music (Photos)

This coming week, February 11-17, is another packed week of Orlando local music live shows with bands, benefits and banjos.

On Monday night at The BackBooth is a benefit show for Give Them Wings To Fly featuring live music from Orlando bands Savannah, Badwolf and Sovereign Soldiers.

On Thursday for Valentine’s Day there aren’t very many options that include live local Orlando music but there is a special event at West End Trading Company with live music from Orlando area bands Family Gang, Jahnopa, YugoSKAvia and Teflon Don as well as a special edition open mic night at Natura Coffee and Tea.

Friday night there is a benefit for Ted “Tetris” Morgan at The Haven with Orlando bands Leaving Haven, SoulSwitch, Stiletto Red, Stockholm and Galia Social and over at Uncle Lou’s is a benefit show for the venue featuring live music from local Orlando bands Devoured by Pestilence (reunion), Ten-Fifty and Another Close Call. At Wills Pub is the CD release show for Day Joy’s “Go to Sleep, Mess.”

On Saturday is another edition of the Orlandobands.com FREE music showcase with live music from Orlando bands Ben Cook, Patrick Mathews, Zebra Panic, Bracher Brown, Cute and the Ugly, ReaGan SMASH, Gunpowder Temple and Diablo Canyon. Also on Saturday is Zap Dragon and the Attack’s CD release show for “Pain Waves” at Wills Pub.

Local Orlando bands Prison Wine and Sailor, 1942 are included in the live music for this month’s Southern Fried Sunday at Wills Pub. There are bound to be a few banjos at this show.

Monday, February 11

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Live music benefit event with performances by Orlando bands Savannah, Badwolf and Sovereign Soldiers (acoustic) with Florida bands Rescue Kid and Jason Lancaster (Go Radio - acoustic). Tuesday, February 12

The Red Lion Pub - 3784 Howell Branch Road - RPR presents Twisted Tuesday with live music from Orlando bands Odyssea (with Rhenn Again) and Central Florida singer/songwriter Michael Jordan for this show. The music starts at 8 p.m.

BackBooth - 37 W. Pine St. - Tuesday night metal night with live music from Orlando bands Dissident Aggressor and Over Brewtal appearing with Rip/Torn for this 21+ show. This event starts at 10 p.m. and tickets are $3.

Marlow’s Tavern (Pointe Orlando) - 9101 International Dr., Suite 1204 - Live music from Orlando singer/songwriter Davis McGee from 7-10 p.m.

Dexter’s Winter Park - 558 W. New England Ave. - Live music from Orlando based singer/songwriter Donnie Lee at 7 p.m.

Natura Coffee and Tea - 12078 Collegiate Way - Jazz jam every Wednesday night at 9:30 p.m. All jazz musicians are welcome to play.

Thursday, February 14

West End Trading Company - 202 S. Sanford Ave. (Sanford) - Valentine's Day special event with live music from Orlando area bands Family Gang, Jahnopa, YugoSKAvia and Teflon Don with Whole Wheat Bread and Fishbone. The doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $13 in advance or $16 at the door. There is also a $3 charge for under 21.
