Band signed to Durham record label will perform at this weekend’s Grammy Awards

Arcade Fire, an alternative rock band signed to Durham’s Merge Records, will perform at the 53rd Grammy Awards in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA on Sunday, February 13, 2011. This performance will be the band’s first at the Grammys.

The band has also been nominated for three Grammy Awards for their August 2010 release “The Suburbs”: Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals and Album of the Year. The group’s competition for these categories range from The Black Keys to Eminem.

Arcade Fire is based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and tours around the world with their music. Merge Records is an independent record label that was founded in 1989 and has been based in Durham, NC since 2001.
