Bananas in My Hair!

That’s right, not only are bananas good for potassium when eaten but can soften and create healthier hair when applied directly to the hair shaft. Bananas can be used for many health benefits including maintaining low blood sugar and lowering blood pressure. However, when they are applied to hair as a hair mask they are beneficial to creating hair growth, shine and manageability. Bananas are not only rich in potassium, but have vitamins and natural oils that help soften hair and protect the hair's natural elasticity by preventing split ends and breakage. Try the recipe below for a hair mask that will make you feel like you have new hair on your head!

1-2 Fresh Bananas (depending on the thickness and length of your hair)
1 Avocado (Adds Moisture and Shine)
3 Tablespoons of honey (Moisturizes the Hair)
5 Tablespoons of food Olive Oil (Excellent Conditioner)

If the mixture is too thick you can add 2 or 3 tablespoons of whole milk which strengthens hair follicles.

Using a blender or food processor is best for this mixture because pieces of banana can be extremely hard to remove from your hair if not crushed and beaten well. Mix all ingredients in the blender making sure all pieces of banana and avocado are blended well. You can use your hand or an applicator brush to apply the mixture to your hair in sections. I like to pour the mixture in an applicator bottle and apply to sections of my hair like hair color. This helps me to saturate each strand of hair completely. After the mixture has been applied to the entire head clip your hair or apply a plastic bag to cover it for processing. Let the mixture set on your hair anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly before shampooing hair and style as usual. You will notice the shine and manageability of your hair. I love this hair mask!
