Ban Comic Sans?

See also

There is a campaign called Ban Comic Sans. (Here is the Facebook.) It is run by an Indianapolis couple who bonded over a disdain for the font.

Check out The Comic Sans Song (featured in the video.)

You also need to see A Defense of Comic Sans. This video has a bit of a misleading title. He does agree that it is an ugly, poorly designed font. He also says that it is people who use it inappropriately, and the font was never meant to be used as much as it is by amateurs. The creator, Vincent Connare, could have never foreseen it being used on a gravestone. Yes, a gravestone. (

This quote is featured on the Ban Comic Sans site as the manifesto:

There are bad types and good types, and the whole science and art of typography begins after the first category has been set aside.
- Beatrice Warde

They have a propaganda section where you can print out stickers, flyers, and comics to get the word out.

Comic Sans Criminal has an explanation of the font and alternative font choices. People like to use the font for children and dyslexics because of how easily legible it is. They give alternatives for each of these groups. You can print and sign the pledge and promise never to use it inappropriately.

For some typographical humor see the video Font Conference. Spoiler alert: Comic Sans saves the day!
