Bamboo workshop and sale at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens

The climate in North Central Florida is ideal for growing a large section of different types of bamboo. On January 14th a bamboo workshop will be held at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in Gainesville, Florida. The workshop will inform homeowners of the correct and incorrect ways to grow one of the fastest growing plants in the world. Homeowners will also be advised on site selection in the home backyard and the advantages and disadvantage of different bamboo varieties. Registration is by phone (352-372-4981) and is $10/person or $15/couple.

In addition to the workshop, the Annual Winter Bamboo Sale is going on through February at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. This year, > 10 varieties are being sold including Green Muliplex (also called Hedge Bamboo), Buddha’s Belly and Royal (Wong Chuck) Bamboo. Prices start at $32.
