The Baymeadows section of Jacksonville is a pretty safe bet if you're looking for a quick lunch break from work on the Southside. There are a ton of different restaurants, ranging from fast food to fine dining, American to Vietnamese, and everything in between. One of the ethnic dining options in the area is Bamboo Creek Asian Bistro, located on Baymeadows Road just east of Phillips Highway. For those familiar with the area, Bamboo Creek Asian Bistro is located in the old Bennigan's building.
Lunch at Bamboo Creek Asian Bistro offers a really nice selection. There are many different 'styles' on the menu, allowing you to choose between any number of dishes like Thai Curry, Mongolian, Honey Garlic, or Teriyaki - all being served with your choice of White or Brown Rice. Similar to other Pan Asian spots, your pricing depends on which meat option you select (Veggies/Tofu, Chicken, Shrimp, Beef, or Scallops). Prices range from $6.50 for Veggies and Tofu to $9.50 for Scallops. A standout is the Cantonese Ginger with Chicken. Mushrooms, Carrots, Broccoli, and Ginger Sauce all glossily meld together for a delectable treat that, combined with the Brown Rice, is absolutely delicious. With each lunch option including a soft drink and Wonton soup, Bambook Creek is a great lunch value!
Bamboo Creek Asian Bistro also has a wonderful selection of Dim Sum. Prices are $3 to $5 and the variety is excellent. Choices include typical items like Spring Rolls, Black Sesame Balls, Sweet Buns, and Pork Dumplings, but they also offer some of the less common goodies like Sticky Rice Wraps, Chicken Feet, and Shrimp with Tofu Skin. The selection and service at Bamboo Creek Asian Bistro is very good; something that deserves mention. And, though I could never stray from my favorite Chinese Restaurant, Bamboo Creek Asian Bistro is a great lunch option that is centrally located to most of the Baymeadows/Gate Parkway/St. John's Towncenter area.
