It is always a pleasure to support our gifted youth who are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and don’t mind giving Him praise and glory! I had an opportunity to interview seventeen-year old Ryan Jackson, a Baltimore native with a powerful voice and a very bright future ahead in the gospel music industry. Not to mention the fact that this young man is totally sold out for Christ and in his own words has a desire to “restore the heart of worship to young people.” We are so blessed to have caught up with the young artist right before the release celebration of his debut single “In Your Presence.” The celebration will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2012 at the Kingdom Worship Center (The Synergy Center) located at 6419 York Road, 21212. It begins at 7pm and we want to invite YOU, our Baltimore Examiner readers to come out and support the young artist. The celebration concert will also include a few guest musicians, vocalists and a few additional added surprises. The event will be hosted by Nate Chase, youth Pastor at Life Center Church. Please enjoy the interview with Ryan Jackson below:

JT: How long have you been singing?

RJ: A little over 5 years.

JT: So you must be pretty excited about April 28th please share with my readers a little about what’s going on.

RJ: We are celebrating the release of the debut single “In Your Presence” with a concert that will feature several musical guests including Jemila Richardson, Jarmel Evans and Worship Forever, Sam Roberts and Ministry along with some additional music produced by both James “Drummaboy” Harris and Steve McCoy. The 28th is the official release date of “In Your Presence” and will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and others. Copies of the single will be available at the event as well.

JT: Who are some of your musical influences?

RJ: LeCrae, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary and Deitrick Hadden

JT: Baltimore has some exceptionally gifted artists. Who are some Baltimore natives that you love and support?

RJ: My Pastor, Jason Nelson, Brittany Wright, Jarmel Evans (Worship Forever) to name a few.

JT: Most artists I know are on the fence about being compared to other artists but some actually take it as a compliment. So who do people compare you to musically Ryan?

RJ: I’ve heard Mali Music and J.Moss.

JT: Well I think you definitely have a unique style and voice of your own. You also write your own music, that’s incredible! Please share with my readers what inspired “In God’s Presence.”

RJ: The only way to spend time [with God] is in prayer and in worship. In God’s presence He shows Himself and reveals Himself. If you need healing, fullness of joy, or whatever your need, you can find it in his presence.

JT: Wow, some powerful words coming from someone so young. I know that your family must be proud. What are your aspirations for the future?

RJ: Owning my own label, putting out good quality music and just remaining humble in this industry.

JT: Thank you Ryan and congratulations on the new release. I hope to see you at the celebration on the 28th.

Well there is no doubt that Ryan Jackson will succeed in all that he aspires to do as long as God remains in the center. We congratulate Ryan on the release of his single and with our prayers as well as our purchases we support you and continue to encourage this young man of God to reach for his dreams.
