Becoming mostly sunny on Thursday with a low around 30 and a high near 45. Mostly sunny on Friday with a low around 32 and a high near 50. Clouds and sun with a rain shower on Saturday. This was one of the mildest mornings of the winter season with temperatures at daybreak only in the lower to middle 40s. A cold front continues to advance eastward through the bay region. A gusty westerly wind developed in the wake of the front, and this made today's highs around 50 feel cooler than the actual air temperature. Yet, today's weather was seasonal for this time of year. A milder flow returns to the Mid-Atlantic region on Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 50s, perhaps low 60s in some spots. Meanwhile, an arctic boundary will drop down from Canada and an area of low pressure will develop along the front. At the moment, it appears that the low will move close enough to Maryland to bring in enough mild air and produce mostly rain across the region. Other factors reducing our chances for another winter weather event include the fact that cold high pressure will not be present to our north. This is often an essential component in getting accumulating snow in this part of the country. There will be a center of high pressure, but it will be located over Ontario. Another factor is that the storm will be quite unorganized and weak until it reaches the coast. Additionally, the high March sun angle will make it difficult for any snow that falls to stick during the day, especially considering that temperatures will be marginally cold. The rain may end as snow on Wednesday night as colder air is pulled into the region with the departing low. A small accumulation cannot be ruled out, but it appears unlikely at this time. Sunshine will return later in the week with lows in the 20s and highs in the 40s, a bit cooler than seasonal averages for the middle of March.
