Clouds and sun on Sunday with a low in the mid 40s and a high in the upper 50s. Mostly sunny on Monday with a low in the upper 30s and a high in the lower 60s. Mostly sunny on Tuesday with a low in the upper 30s and a high in the upper 50s.
A powerful storm produced a significant snowfall over Delmarva yesterday with a wide swath of 3 to 6 inches of snow, and a light snowfall in Baltimore and Washington with a general spread of 1 to 3 inches of snow. Most of the snow in the Baltimore area accumulated after sunset when the factor of the sun angle was diminished and temperatures cooled to near freezing. In the wake of the storm, strong winds moving counter-clockwise around the center of low pressure made for a windy and very cold day in the Mid-Atlantic states today. The average high temperature for this time of year is in the upper 50s, but today's highs struggled to reach the upper 30s! Winds gusting over 30 miles per hour at times made it feel even colder with wind chill values in the 20s. As we move into the evening and overnight hours, the winds will diminish but temperatures will plunge into lower to middle 20s by Thursday morning. Looking ahead, a more southerly flow will break the cold snap and return temperatures closer to seasonal averages with highs in the 40s on Thursday and 50s on Friday and Saturday. A cold front moving through the area on Friday will produce widespread clouds and showers, and a wave of low pressure moving along the front will produce additional showers on Saturday. At the moment, Sunday looks to be the best day of the weekend with sunshine and highs in the 50s to near 60 degrees.
