Brian's exclusive forecast for Baltimore, Annapolis, and northern Delmarva:

Tonight: Clear and cold with a low from the upper 10s to mid 20s.

Friday: Mostly sunny. Cold early, then warmer with a high in the mid 50s.

Friday Night: Mostly clear with a low in the upper 30s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high from the upper 50s to lower 60s.

The extended forecast calls for increasing clouds on Sunday with a low around 40 and a high in the lower to middle 40s. A chance of mixed rain and snow on Monday with a low around 35 and a high near 40. Becoming mostly sunny on Tuesday with a low in the upper 20s and a high in the mid 40s. Clouds and sun on Wednesday with a rain shower possible. The low will be in the lower 30s and the high will be in the upper 40s.

Some of the strongest winds in quite some time impacted the Middle Atlantic region overnight and through the day with frequent gusts over 30 miles per hour. Occasional gusts topped 40 miles per hour. In fact, last evening BWI Airport reported a wind gust of 53 miles per hour and a station in Frederick County reported a wind gust of 66 miles per hour. Fortunately, the winds diminished throughout the day and the wind advisory that had been in effect was allowed to expire during the late morning hours. However, temperatures struggled to reach the freezing point, nearly 40 degrees colder than yesterday's highs which topped 70 at many locations. High pressure, clear skies, and light winds will enable thermometer readings to fall back into the lower and middle 20s by Friday morning, but a milder flow will allow temperatures to rebound to near 50 degrees by late Friday afternoon. Cold snaps are usually short-lived this time of year, but we also have to deal with wild swings in the weather. This will occur again in the coming days with a good deal of sunshine over the weekend and highs in the 50s. By Monday morning, some computer forecast models are hinting at the possibility of rain changing to snow in Baltimore, Washington, and Annapolis. This will have to be monitored carefully over the weekend.

On the Maryland portion of Chesapeake Bay, a Gale Warning is in effect through Thursday evening. Winds tonight will come out of the northwest at 10 to 20 knots with gusts over 30 knots and waves up to 5 feet. Winds on Friday will come out of the south at 10 to 15 knots with waves up to 2 feet. Marine information is provided only as a guide. Boaters should always stay tuned to the latest forecasts and advisories from the National Weather Service.

The average high temperature for March 13 is 53 degrees and the average low is 33 degrees. The records at Baltimore on this date are 85 degrees in 1990, and 12 degrees in 1888. Today's sunrise will occur at 7:21 and the sunset will occur at 7:11. Weather data courtesy of the National Weather Service.
