Baltimore supports Relay For Life – Part one: Getting started

Relay for Life events are fun and exciting fundraisers for the American Cancer Society. Most events begin between 5 – 7 PM. They extend throughout the night and end around dawn, 6 – 7 AM. Come for the whole night or just take your turn on the track and leave. Baltimore is home to approximately fifteen different Relay locations.

Teams are now being formed for each of the various Relay events. Teams as a whole, as well as individual members of each team, have begun fundraising efforts. There are many incentive prizes for participants to do their best, reaching goals and milestones as the days and weeks pass. Lots of encouragement, training and support is provided by staff liaisons within the American Cancer Society's offices at White Marsh.

Visit the Relay For Life website (here). Put in your zip code and the Relays near you will list. You can chose how close or how far away you are willing to travel. You can pick a Relay based on location or a specific date that is most convenient for you.

Everyone is encouraged to form their own team of eight or more members. However, many teams are often looking for participants to join them. Feel free to contact the White Marsh ACS office at 410-933-5137. Ask to speak to the liaison for the Relay you choose. Information packets are available for each team captain to assist in creating your team, organizing fundraisers, getting details for participating in the Relay, or for finding a team looking for a new member.
