Baltimore singer and lyricist steps out on faith

“Can’t you see it’s so hard for me to breathe without you? I don’t know what I’m going to do…”
So begins the lyrics of Endless Love, written by Beverly Wright.
Beverly Wright hails from Baltimore, MD. She is a performing artist, aka Cherry Wright, whose latest CD is entitled, Endless Love.

Wright got her musical start as she watched her mother sing all the while possessing a secret desire to sing like her. She then began to pursue her musical prowess in the basement of her best friend, Andre Tyler’s, mother’s home. She had met Andre when she was 18 or 19 and they began a musical relationship that has lasted for approximately fifteen years. As a result of her partnership with Andre, Wright branched out with assistance from producer Rue Rice and later started to record in Alexandria, VA.

She sings in various nightclubs in Virginia and Pennsylvania. In addition to singing, she writes her own lyrics.

Wright has been inspired, primarily by her mother, Mabel, a singer in her own right.

Wright has been able to overcome her obstacles by clinging to her faith in God and through her perseverance. She said it was a struggle to get to where she is at this point, being the mother of five children. Wright says she continues to push herself to get where she wants to be.

Her next goal is to complete her second CD, which will be more autobiographical and will also expose her journey, musically and mentally. Wright said she has always been afraid of success, even though she knew she could achieve it. She is beginning to walk into her destiny.

Over the next five years, Wright envisions herself as a successful mother working in the music industry.

She tells the next generation to “basically not give up or be scared, to be who you are and not to let people bring you down so that you can achieve what you want to be in life. You should not care what people think of you.”

Wright’s bonus song on the Endless Love CD, Can’t Wait, can be downloaded from YouTube.
