Baltimore's Cookie Union Square Tour (Photos)

New Year is upon us and behind us a series of celebrations have set the scene for the ucoming festivals that the amazing town of Baltimore has to offer their incredible citizens. One such neighborhood that provided us a cute end to the year was Sowebo. This is a neighborhood in Baltimore that has for the past twenty seven years celebrated their historical homes through a cookie tour. The neighborhood families warm up their ovens and roll up their sleeves to knead the dough for the series of cookies that they will prepare as part of the tour. Guests within the neighborhood and outside of it connect, communicate, exchange and celebrate their neighborhood by visiting each home to view their decorations, and home styles while they munch and grade their unique cookies. This year, one of their families, opened their doors, kitchen, and hearts with memorable neighborhood stories.

The Blount-Wimbush family was one of the families that celebrated the tour with ginger, chocolate chip, and vanilla cookies. Their home is one of the many warm houses that are in this neighborhood, that their family members lift their inhabitant's spirits with their laughter, smiles, openness, and caring curiosity. The head of the household prepared each room with the delicate taste of the well traveled lady and experienced hair stylist who owns one of the most original hair salons in Baltimore- Bubbles. The themes for each room added variety and originality.

Arthur lives across from the Blount-Wimbush family, and invited us to dinner after the cookie tour. We were able to witness the wooden beams that created a southern style to their home as well as taste their exquisite food.

Union square (or Sowebo), is also known for their summer festival, which starts on May 27, 2013 and it is definitely an event to look forward to.
