The Baltimore Ravens management has made boldly aggressive changes to it's 2013 Super Bowl winning roster of players according to a report on Mar. 13, by the Fox Sports.
Baltimore fans will be in for a new line-up of players in the fall, do a combination of player trades and cuts by the franchise's general manager and coaching staff. Other factors affecting the teams line-up is the retirement of some of the team's long-time players.
The team still has the now highest paid NFL player in the history of the game, quarterback Joe Flacco. Other team causalities include:
Anquan Boldin. Traded to San Francisco 49ers. Gone.
Dannell Ellerbe. Signed with the Miami Dolphins. Gone.
Paul Kruger. Signed with the Cleveland Browns. Gone.
Bernard Pollard. Released. Gone.
Ray Lewis. Retired and off to “Monday Night Football host.” Gone.
Matt Birk. Retired. Gone.
Fox Sports reports, "This 'bloodletting' in Baltimore has brought about a lot of rear-view mirror discussion about the contract Flacco signed two weeks ago. The $120 million deal, at the time well-received by the Ravens fan base, is now being looked upon as the reason the Ravens can’t pay for these players. In the NFL, you need a franchise quarterback , you can't win a Super Bowl without one. Cary Williams, Ed Reed, Bryant McKinnie. All unrestricted free agents. Could all be gone in the coming days."
