The player news for this season according orioles.mlb.com?
Gone is innings-eater Jeremy Guthrie, who was dealt to Colorado in return for Hammel and reliever Matt Lindstrom, leaving a hole in Baltimore's rotation.
Gone, too, is always-quotable designated hitter Luke Scott -- a non-tender who signed with the Rays -- whose vacancy was filled with the offseason signing of Wilson Betemit.
The Orioles have added roughly a dozen players under new executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette ….
And the big question mark for the O’s is whether 2nd baseman Brian Roberts will be healthy enough to play this season. Spring training should determine Brian’s ability to play or not during the regular season.
The first pre-season games for the O’s in Florida’s Grapefruit League begin on March 5th with split-squad games at 1:05 p.m. against the Rays, and again on March 5th at 7:05 p.m. at Ed Smith Stadium against the Pirates.
The Oriole’s home opener is scheduled for Friday, April 6 at 3:05 p.m. against the Twins.
Go O’s!
