Baltimore County provides curbside Christmas tree recycling pick-up (Photos)

Ready or not, Christmas arrived with its glitz and glitter and fancifully decorated evergreen trees. All residents with live trees will have the opportunity to recycle those trees through the Department of Public Works recycling program.
Baltimore County has announced a pick-up schedule has been organized to pick up the items placed at curbside. Pick-up is available now through January 19. Check the county website for all details.

With the holiday season coming to an extended end. many local Christians continued to celebrate through the Epiphany -- the arrival of the Three Kings or Three Wise Men. This is typically celebrated on January 6. Families will begin the not so fun chore of undecorating their Christmas trees. Packing away the decorations until next year, there is always the decision of what to do with the tree and the broken items.

Residents are reminded that all trees must be bare. No tree stands will be accepted. No tinsel or other decorations should remain on the tree.

If you choose you can deliver the tree to one of the County's three drop-off locations:
Eastern Sanitary Landfill Solid Waste Management Facility - ESL (White Marsh)
6259 Days Cover Road, White Marsh, 21162.

Baltimore County Resource Recovery Facility - BCRRF (Cockeysville)
201 Warren Road, Cockeysville 21030

Western Acceptance Facility - WAF (Halethorpe)
3310 Transway Road, Halethorpe 21227

Trees will be chipped and used as mulch. This insures these items do not fill up space in the landfill and transforms them into useful materials.

For more information of what, when and where you can make use of the landfills, visit the Baltimore County Department of Public Works website. You can also contact staff at 410-887-2000.

NOTE: Baltimore City will collect trees through January 31, with heaviest focus on January 14-19.
