The Baltimore County Communities for the Homeless (BCCH) will sponsor its 9th annual homeless rally at the Calvary Baptist Church, 120 W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Towson 21204 on March 19, 2012 starting at 5:00 p.m. A dynamic program is planned that will include a light dinner, inspirational speakers and a march to the Baltimore County courthouse seat to speak to council members is planned.
The rally will focus on issues concerning "homelessness prevention, affordable housing, and permanent supportive housing". After the rally, all attendees will be invited to the candlelit march to the courthouse. Tee-shirts will be available for persons that will advertise our commitment together to end homelessness in the County.
More importantly, the opportunity to speak in front of council members is critical to get their vote for legislative on our 10-year plan to end homelessness, affecting over *800 homeless persons. Even in difficult times, as Baltimore County residents, we cannot forget about fellow citizens who need assistance to get off the streets and out of the campsites; medical assistance; and long-term housing in order to regain their dignity and sense of humanity. "Could you find a place to live on $7.25/hour? Could you work 128 hours per week?"
Anyone is welcomed to attend the rally. We need all Baltimore County citizens to come and be informed about homelessness in the Baltimore County, advocate and participate in the process to end homelessness. We are looking for a large turnout of at least 200 persons to meet us at Calvary Baptist.
If you need a ride to the event or more information, please contact BCCH's Board Treasurer, Terri Kingeter at 443-799-3760or by e-mail at tkingeter@comcast.net.
